Block 5 Girls Giving Back

The 7th and 8th of March 2020 were two important days locked down in two of our team’s diaries for this year’s International Women’s Day Celebrations.
Saturday 7th March our Administration Officer Jodi Harman was part of a committee of 12 woman from her local community who created a day of fun, sweat and tears called Sweat Like A Girl, a day of nonstop exercise sessions, markets, food trucks and solidarity. The event was a huge success with over 150 exercisers attending the 7 sessions and 20 market stalls raising $9450 for the domestic violence charity RizeUp who provide an essential service rehoming woman and children escaping domestic violence.
On Sunday 8th of March our Director, Consulting Services Terri Aitken was amongst friends and the thousands of women participating in the annual RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run for the Mater Chicks in Pink. The much-loved annual events fundraising efforts ensure Mater Chicks in Pink are able to provide a range of free support services, programs and items to more than 1000 women with breast cancer treated at Mater each year. Services provided include, counselling, mastectomy bras, financial support, art therapy program, ‘Mum, memories and me’ program and Yoga therapy.
This year’s event raised a staggering 1,039,654!
