Lightbulb Moments

It’s amazing how the term “lightbulb moment” is so accurately descriptive. The feeling that all of a sudden someone has turned a light on and shined clarity onto a thought or idea that had previously been confusion or darkness.
My most recent lightbulb moment came in a brainstorming session with Block 5 Directors Kim and Terri Aitken. We were discussing team productivity levels and how each team member’s performance would differ due to a variety of factors.
A good team leader will balance their team’s requirements in order to keep the team’s productivity to an optimum level. Balance between separate workspaces and collaborative working needs to be found in order to optimise that team. The result of the lightbulb moment has been a balance between days working in isolation and days working with the team through the COVID-19 induced work-from-home period. I now schedule my more complex projects on the team days and less complex tasks on isolation days, while the other team members are doing the opposite.
This observation from Terri felt as though a light had been switched on, illuminating the seemingly obvious. Block 5 is particularly skilled at this, given team chemistry is something that is highly considered when we recruit into our team.
